Hi! I am the owner and lead tutor at YEA! Youth Education Alliance. I was a public school educator for ten years before starting YEA. I have a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Central Florida. I sort of “fell” into education while working in education programs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While there, I discovered I loved working with the kids, showing them cool stuff about the world around us, and the rest is history (as they say)! My area of specialization includes all levels of science, english, history and executive functioning. I teach all ages and grade levels - basically if a kid is in my presence I’ll make them learn something : )
Hi! I'm Mrs. Jensen. I have been with YEA since 2017. I tutor a variety of subjects and skill levels including all levels of math, english, history, spanish and french. If you can think of it I likely tutor it! - just not AP stats. I hate that stuff (LOL). I'm passionate about helping students succeed no matter their skill level. Whether they need a new way to understand a concept, help organizing their schoolwork, or an extra reminder that they have the power to achieve all their goals, I'm always excited to tackle whatever challenges the students face!!
Hi! My name is Sonja and I am so excited to work with your student! I graduated from The University of Tampa with a bachelor’s degree in biology and minor in Chemistry. This is my third school year as a Lead Teacher at Quest Kids Academy and a tutor at YEA! I specialize in science, homework help and organization, test taking strategies, K-6 Math, and History/Social Studies. I am honored to be a part of your students' journey to gain the confidence they need to excel in all academic areas, as well as life!
Hello! My name is Lily Scherrer and I currently study mathematics and statistics at UCF and this is my second school year being a YEA tutor. I specialize in SAT/ACT test prep, organization skills, study skills, and a wide range of mathematical subjects. I love helping students simplify complex concepts along with helping them reach a level of complete understanding. I strongly believe that everyone has the ability to be a master of mathematics!
Hello! My name is Stacy Julian. I am one of the tutors at YEA! I have been a public school teacher since 1993. My teaching experience has mostly been in Exceptional Student Education. This means my expertise lies in organization, time management, study strategies and other executive functioning skills. UCF is my alma mater for both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I have known I wanted to teach since I was in high school and had my first experience as an assistant in an ESE classroom.
Middle School English teacher by day and tutor by night (weekends). After graduating from Florida State University with a bachelor's in English, I thought I would immediately attend grad school. However, education wiggled its way into my life about a month after graduation. I felt it would be a great opportunity to be like my favorite teachers who had a positive impact on my life. Someone who can explain the reasons why learning is useful and the awesome things you can do with the newfound skills. I tutor anything from English to Mathematics (switching majors from Chemical Engineering will do that for you). I am excited to be a positive educational force for the youth of Central Florida.
Hi! My name is Kellie Brice. I have been an educator for 27 years. I have a degree in education from Florida State University. I have been with YEA! Youth Education Alliance as a part time tutor for more than 7 years tutoring students of all ages and at all levels of math - from Geometry to Calculus AB (and everything in-between)! I believe that connecting with the students and showing them that complex mathematical concepts can be interesting and engaging is the most important part of the job that I do!
Hello! My name is Julian. I am a multi-subject tutor with a focus on math. Though most comfortable with anything with an equal sign, I like the sciences, history, and even writing composition! I studied Mathematics at UCF and tutored in a variety of subjects along the way. Years ago, I wouldn't have thought I would be in tutoring but once I started I found myself drawn in even further. The best aspect of being an educator is getting to see the positive impact I have on my students and I would love to make that difference in your student’s life!
